Send in Your Feedback, and Prepare for the New Year!
By Greg Jordan, NIRSA President
NIRSA Colleagues,
As a first paragraph topic, I am asking for your help. One of the most significant issues we will be dealing with this year is that of credentials. Recently, Members received an invitation to participate in the Zoomerang survey regarding the Professional Registry. On behalf of the Board of Directors, I encourage and insist on your participation in completing that survey. We need your input. Please know that the Registry Work Team and the Board value the Member feedback. Download the Professional Registry Proposal [PDF, 64kb]
Now, on to the "regular message."
Summer? What summer? It's hard to believe we're already in August. I sincerely hope you have had a chance to "relax" and "re-tool," as the students we serve will soon be or are already back on campus! Just as we take the summer on our campuses to engage at a different level, we do the same with our NIRSA for the most part. I would like to thank those Members who submitted presentation proposals for the Annual Conference next year in Louisville. More than 190 proposals have been received. Program Committee Chair Tamra Garstka, her co-chairs Julie Kipper and Sylvia Chan, and the Program Committee all have their work cut out for them in developing the final program!
We have always known that NIRSA is a Member-driven organization. As we approach the fall, it is time for the Members to step up! At the committee level, now is the time to continue the work on the particular subject. At the state and regional level, we have a full slate of workshops or conferences that require presentation, volunteers, planners and attendees. Competitions in extramurals and sport club championships are extensive through Thanksgiving, again requiring experts, volunteers, teams and officials. I know that the dedicated Members of our Association will do a great job in facilitating all of these events.
I wish you all the best as the summer draws to a close, and the new year is upon us. Please feel free to contact me or any of the Officers on the Board of Directors if you need assistance.
