Leadership Notes
The Year Ahead for the New Student Leadership Team
By Linda Clauss, National Student Representative
Greetings, Student Members,
Wow! This sauna of a summer is flying by and the new Student Leadership Team is working hard on all of the goals set back in June. One of the biggest initiatives we are working on right now is updating the NIRSA Student Web site. With the help of the fabulous NNC Staff, and NIRSA's Graphic Designer Cory Granholm, we have arrived at a first draft, and hope to have the Web site LIVE within the next few weeks! I think you all will find it a lot more user friendly and easy to navigate. If you don't, let us know; we're completely open to suggestions and creative ideas!
We are also pleased and proud to announce the scheduling of SIX Student Lead Ons this year! That's right, a Lead On/Summit has been planned in all six NIRSA Regions. Be sure to check the student Web site for information about the locations and opportunities to attend and/or present at these conferences that are "for the students, by the students."
In other exciting news, keep your eyes peeled for the official roll out of the Campus Contact Program which is currently scheduled for mid-August. Although the 2005-2006 Student Leadership Team has only been in place for a short time, we are already looking for our successors and new Campus Contacts, and you may be one of them! If you're an interested and energetic individual, what's stopping you from "Stepping Up and Standing" for a leadership position? Don't hesitate to write me or your Regional Student Representative or State Student Representative to learn where you can be of service to your organization and have a rad experience at the same time. Also, be sure to check the NIRSA master calendar online for upcoming events in your region and state so you can get involved.
With that said, continue to enjoy the remainder of your summer (stay cool), check the student Web site for its new look, have a safe return to your schools (you may be graduating this year!), and continue to share your energy and enthusiasm to make this great organization all that it is!
Cheers!
