There's nothing like playing in mud to make you feel like a kid again. Recreational sports professionals from the University of Texas at Austin and Texas Christian University discovered the down and dirty side of team work at the August 7 Austin Muddy Buddy Race.
The 10K race features two-person teams running and biking over a 6.2 mile course with obstacles at each transition area, and a one-foot-deep mud pit at the end. Team members must finish together by crawling through the mud. UT's Division of Recreational Sports was gamely represented by Jennifer Spear, Chad McKenzie, Randall Ford and Nicole Olmeda.
TCU's Recreational Sports staff members were Trey Morrison, Kristin McAfee and Mary Ellen Milan. Proceeds from the race benefit the Challenged Athletes Foundation.
