Sports Illustrated on Campus Distribution Program passes halfway point
Sports Illustrated On Campus.
|
With the fourth issue of the SIOC magazine hitting campuses on October 27, only two issues remain to be distributed in the pilot program. Over 1,000,000 copies of each issue have been distributed to 150 NIRSA Institutional Member campuses, and the program is lauded as a success! SIOC recently reported that they are very pleased with the survey responses they received from student readers of the magazine. Students indicate excitement about receiving the free publication through their campus recreational sports programs. Many distribution schools, via verification forms, have also expressed pleasure with the magazine and the overall program.
A full-page advertisement promoting NIRSA's National Campus Championship Series has been (or will be) placed in at least four of the six issues. The Series, which promotes the Collegiate Sport Club Championships (volleyball, soccer and tennis), Flag Football and Basketball regionals, and the National Collegiate Golf Championship, directs readers (students) to their campus recreation center for information on programs.
Contract negotiations are currently taking place to renew the pilot as a fully endorsed NIRSA program. If terms and conditions are accepted by both parties, the agreement should be executed by mid-November. Issues to be discussed include expanding the number of distribution schools, reducing the quantity each school is expected to deliver, and raising the expectation that the magazine content will better reflect the Mission of the Association. As always, we will continue to work with all of our sponsored and endorsed programs to provide the best possible benefit to our Member Institutions.
Institutional Member schools that are interested in participating in this and other NIRSA sponsored or endorsed programs, should contact Mary Callender. |
