This year the rain stayed away and there were sunny skies in Tuscaloosa, but the teams were challenged by windy and very cold conditions. Once again, the University of Alabama did a stellar job of hosting the event and huge thanks go to George Brown, CRSS, Jill Beville, and the staff from University Recreation. The University of Michigan women won their third National Championship in overtime over Colorado State University. The University of Colorado men won their first National Championship, in overtime over Vanderbilt University. In the Men's Open division, the Ducks of the University of Oregon beat the Bears from the University of California (Berkeley) for their first title. For the women, the University of Virginia won their second Open title with a win over rival Virginia Tech. Sportsmanship Awards went to the University of Kansas (women) and the University of San Diego. (Men) NIRSA can be proud of another successful Soccer Sport Club Championship. The quality of the event is due to the dedication of many NIRSA Members. Thanks to the six Regional coordinators who worked with the teams throughout the season: Region 1: Jeff Gontarek Many thanks to those who helped before and during the event: Doug Ewing, CRSS, Arizona State University, Randall Ford, CRSS, University of Texas at Austin, and Noah Yannie, CRSS, Palm Beach Atlantic University. Thanks to all the folks who helped during the event; there were some very cold days, but everyone wore smiles along with many, many layers of jackets. Many thanks to: Erin Allen, University of North Alabama
