NIRSA and Human Kinetics release three new sports officials' publications
The NIRSA Basketball Committee worked diligently over the past two years to produce this DVD. A Human Kinetics film crew joined Basketball Committee members Jim Wilkening, CRSS (University of Central Florida) and Jon Broska (University of Florida) on the campus of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida to film a basketball camp hosted by NIRSA Member J.B. Caldwell.
The DVD's menu-driven format makes it quick and easy to access the specific content needed. Live-action video and animation concisely explain the rules and mechanics of basketball.
In January 2002, the NIRSA Softball Committee conducted a survey of the NIRSA Membership to gauge their interest in a new NIRSA softball rules book. Of those who responded, 95% said that their university plays slow pitch softball. When asked: "If the NIRSA Softball Committee were to develop a comprehensive NIRSA softball rules book, similar to flag football, would your institution be interested in using it in place of what you currently use?" 71% responded YES!
As a result, NIRSA will no longer be endorsing or selling the Amateur Softball Association rulebook. The NIRSA Slow Pitch Softball Rules Book includes all of the latest rule changes and updates for the sport. It’s an easy-to-read, pocket-sized rules book that’s handy to refer to before, after, and even during the game.
Release date February 17
Filmed by Human Kinetics at the University of Illinois, under the direction of Chris McGee (University of Southern Mississippi) and Clay Caswell (Fulton, Missouri Parks and Recreation), the DVD’s menu-driven format makes it quick and easy to access the specific content needed. Live-action video and animation concisely explain the rules and mechanics of softball.
