Louisville or bust!

Greetings Student Members of NIRSA!

Long time! I hope you all are doing well and staying warm this winter if you are in a cold-weather area. Well, January and February have come and gone, March is upon us, and in a few weeks many of us will be seeing each other at the 2006 Annual Conference in Louisville, Kentucky. This year’s Conference is packed with student professional development and networking opportunities that you don’t want to miss, such as:

• The all-new Student Hospitality Area – Located near, and open the same hours as the Career Opportunities Center (COC), this area will be set up as a relaxing environment for students to socialize with one another and rest their feet between interviews, volunteering, and presenting.
• Student Business Meeting – Here we will cover your leadership’s and organization’s accomplishments this year. At this meeting, you will also have the opportunity to hear from and elect your new National Student Representative and Regional Student Representatives. Wednesday April 5 at 2 p.m.
• Student Roundtable – Pull up a seat for some informal conversation covering the topics you are interested in discussing. This is your opportunity to share your opinions and gather ideas regarding current trends within the organization and on our campuses. Thursday April 6 at 1 p.m.
• Annual Business Meeting – Join the Board of Directors and the rest of the Membership as we gather to hear the speeches of the two professionals standing for election as the President-elect. The current President, Greg Jordan, will also present the Association’s financial status and what has been accomplished this year. Friday April 7 at 10:30 a.m.
• Take a Student to Lunch – Time for free lunch and great networking opportunities with NIRSA Professional Members! Immediately following the Annual Business Meeting, students and professionals are invited to connect and enjoy each other’s company over lunch. Friday April 7 at 12:30 p.m.

Check the conference website for up-to-date hotel and programming/presentation information, as well as information regarding the Student Development preconference workshop. If you will be interviewing at the Conference for a graduate assistantship or professional position, be sure to reference the NIRSA student website for resume and interview tips.
