See the celebrations from National Recreational Sports & Fitness Day
February 22 brought out the fun, the community, and the cameras!
From coast to coast, colleges and universities honored National Recreational Sports & Fitness Day. On February 22, 1950, Dr. William Wasson organized a meeting of 22 African-American men and women intramural directors from 11 Historically Black Colleges and Universities at the first Intramural Conference at Dillard University in New Orleans. They formed the National Intramural Association, NIRSA's precursor.
This year, schools from every region arranged festivals, fit challenges, open houses, run/walk events, celebrity guest speakers, demonstrations, social events, or special activities for employees or youth. Thanks to all of you for joining with NIRSA to help spread the word about why we do what we do!
