New Student Leadership Team is ready to serve
By Amy Jo Jenkins, University of Texas at Austin, National Student Representative
Greetings NIRSA Student Members!
I hope all of you are having a wonderful summer and enjoying a break from your regular routine. The new NIRSA Student Leadership Team for 2006-2007 kicked off their summer with a meeting at the NIRSA National Center in Corvallis, Oregon June 14-16. It was apparent, as we brainstormed ideas for the 2006-2007 year, that the SLT representatives possess exceptional talent, dedication and passion. We are finalizing our goalsbased on student professional development, education and service. Once those are completed, they will be posted on the student website for you to view. We are continuously looking for new ideas and input for ways to improve NIRSA for our current and future student members.
The Student Leadership Team is extremely excited about serving the NIRSA student members. If you are interested in getting more involved in NIRSA please visit the student website. Getting involved is the best way to expand your horizons and further develop professional skills, investing in your future. Each and every role in NIRSA is important from Campus Contacts to National Student Representative and also serving on committees and work teams.
If you have any questions, comments, or concerns regarding any of the numerous NIRSA opportunities, student scholarships, awards, or events please let me know or contact your new Regional Student Representatives. Their contact information can be found on the NIRSA student website. Please remember to check the calendar on the website for information on upcoming state, regional and national events and conferences.
Thanks again to the 2005-2006 Student Leadership Team for all their wonderful accomplishments, support and ideas. They did a great job with The Top 5 in ’05 goals [see July 2005 article] and we will continue to build upon those successes.
On behalf of the Student Leadership Team, we are excited about the potential to accomplish great things in 2006-2007 and have high expectations for all student members.
