NNC staff updates
New responsibilities for several at NIRSA National Center
It’s not exactly musical chairs, but over the past few months there have been a number of changes in responsibilities and a few new faces at the NIRSA National Center in Corvallis. Here’s the scoop:

Karen Bach, CRSS, formerly Director of Education & Conferences, is now Chief Operating Officer. In addition to managing the day-to-day operations of the NIRSA National Center, Karen provides organization-wide quality assurance for member and customer service in support of the Association’s goals, programs, and services. She continues to perform site selection and manage onsite operations for the NIRSA Annual Conference & Recreational Sports Exposition.

Mary Callender, CRSS, formerly Director of National Sport Programs, is now Director of Publications & Educational Resources. She works closely with Human Kinetics and the NIRSA membership to produce new publications and maintains the Sports Officials Education Program, developing resources and online courses. She continues to be the NNC liaison to the various SODP Committees.

Heidi Cleary is one of two new part-time Receptionists, and it is her voice you will hear if you call the NIRSA National Center in the morning. Receptionist "front line" duties include greeting visitors, distributing the incoming mail, and handling general inquiries to the association. She will also be helping in the Accounting department, processing payments and registrations.

Robyn Hauck is the other new part-time Receptionist, sharing the multiple accounting and other administrative duties with Heidi. She will be covering the phones in the afternoons.

Carole Hobrock, CRSS, formerly Exposition Director, is now Director of Education. She directs the operations for the NIRSA Annual Conference & Recreational Sports Exposition, the National Recreation Facilities Institute, and the National School of Recreational Sports Management. She also oversees the association’s offerings of continuing education units.

Katie Malone joins NIRSA as part-time Exposition/Advertising Coordinator. Katie brings with her a variety of customer service and sales experience, and is thrilled about the opportunity to sell exhibit booth space and advertising for NIRSA. Katie will work closely with Director of Education Carole Hobrock on 2007 Recreational Sports Directory ad sales, and the 2007 Recreational Sports Exposition in Minneapolis.

Valerie McCutchan, CRSS, formerly Assistant Director of National Sport Programs, is now Director of National Sport Programs. She is the tournament director for the USTA National Campus Championship and the Collegiate Soccer Sport Club Championships. Val assists with the Collegiate Volleyball Sport Club Championships and helps manage and promote NIRSA’s National Campus Championship Series. She is the liaison for the Fitness, Outdoor Recreation and Wellness Committees and oversees the National Fitness Institute and the Collegiate Sport Club Symposium.

Katherine Otten joined the team in January. As Editor & Assistant Director of Marketing, she is responsible for the eFASTNEWS and NIRSA Know member communications and is involved with many facets of marketing the association. She also assists with the National Marketing Institute.

Nick Todorovich, formerly Assistant Director of Education, is now National Sport Programs Coordinator. He helps plan and implement several National Campus Championship Series events, including the Collegiate Volleyball Sport Club Championships, the NIRSA Endorsed Regional & National Basketball Championships, and the NIRSA Regional & National Flag Football Championships. He also assists with the National Fitness Institute, the National Aquatic Institute, and the Collegiate Sport Club Symposium.

Cheryl Williams, formerly Receptionist & Accounting Assistant, is now Education Program Coordinator. She works closely with the Director of Education on projects related to the Annual Conference, the National School of Recreational Sports Management, the National Recreation Facilities Institute, and continuing education units. She also coordinates the evaluation process for all NIRSA professional development offerings.
