NSC Board appoints new NCCS Appeals Board
Five-member board will consider appeals to sanctions arising from any NCCS event
As our sports programs and championship offerings have grown in size, scope, visibility, and national prominence, so has the level of competition and the desire to win. With this in mind, a variety of sport guidelines, eligibility criteria, and conduct expectations have been adopted. Within these guidelines, violations are addressed with team, school, and in some cases individual sanctions. Under the banner of our NCCS series of sports championships, the NSC Board has voted to formally constitute an NCCS Appeals Board.
The NCCS Appeals Board will be empowered to hear and make decisions about the status of sanctioned teams, schools or individuals if that team, school or individual makes a formal written appeal of the decision. In all appeals heard, the decisions of the NCCS Appeals Board shall be final. The NCCS Appeals Board will not have the authority to adopt and/or amend policies, rules, guidelines or procedures.
The NCCS Appeals Board will consist of five individuals representing NIRSA upon recommendation of the NSC Board and formal appointment by the NSC President. The 2006-07 board will be chaired by Catherine Cramp, Pepperdine University. Other board members will include: Peewee Roberson, Texas Tech University; Howard Taylor, Purdue University; Leslie Whitmer, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University; and Steve Young, Temple University. If you have questions or would like more information regarding the NCCS Appeals Board, please contact Valerie McCutchan.
