Leadership opportunity: chair the 2009 Annual Conference Program Committee
Applications being accepted for new three-year position
The NIRSA Board of Directors voted to move the responsibility for chairing the Annual Conference Program Committee from the Past President to a member chosen through an application process. This leadership role is critical to a successful Annual Conference. It is a three-year position, consisting of a year each as chair-elect, chair, and consultant.
Applications are currently being accepted for the chair of the 2009 Program Committee. This chair will serve as chair-elect in 2007-2008, as chair in 2008-2009, and as consultant in 2009-2010. The selection committee will be comprised of the NIRSA Chief Operating Officer, the NIRSA Director of Education, and three NIRSA Board Members.
Term of 2009 Annual Conference Program Committee Chair:
- April 2007 April 2008: chair-elect serves as a committee member on 2008 Program Committee
- April 2008 April 2009: chair of 2009 Program Committee
- April 2009 April 2010: consultant to 2010 Program Committee
The committee chair provides leadership to the Program Committee, which is responsible for the following:
- Work with the NIRSA Director of Education to determine the overall conference schedule
- Recruit proposals for pre-conference workshops, educational sessions, and poster presentations
- Review and select pre-conference workshops, educational sessions, and poster presentations
- Select invited and keynote speakers
- Recruit and schedule session monitors
- Supervise the conference program table
- Liaise with the 60th Anniversary Committee and the Host Committee
