Part of the National Campus Championship Series
Several Regional Flag Football Championships are taking place in November. The Utah Valley State College men’s team defeated the Full Monkeys of University of Arizona 28-27 in last year’s title match. UVSC returns quarterback Brandon Romney and wide receiver Travis Armistrad from the all-tournament team and enter the 2006 regional championship as the team to beat.

Three championship teams return to the 12th annual University of Maryland Regional Flag Football Championships. University of North Carolina Charlotte (men’s division), Howard University (women’s division), and St. Peters College (co-rec) took first place in last year’s tournament, and look to repeat their success this fall.
The UNCC Pure Playaz claimed the men’s championship last year with a 25-14 victory over the Belcher Boys of Liberty University. Pure Playaz return all four members from the all-tournament team: linebackers Rick Wiley and Josh Treadaway, quarterback Michael Newton, and last year’s tournament most valuable player and wide receiver Micheaux Simmons. Led by tournament MVP Kenyetta Grigsby, Howard University Dream Team shut out the New Jersey Lions 32-0 to win the Women’s Division. Grigsby will sit out this year’s championship as she recovers from recent knee surgery. In the Co-Rec Division, the St. Peters College Select snagged a regional championship by defeating James Madison University Rocafellas 32-21. The Select returns with quarterback and tournament MVP Patricia Gentile.
