Countdown is on to National Collegiate Golf Championship in Las Vegas
Part of the National Campus Championship Series
More than 45 schools across the country are sending qualified teams to participate in the National Collegiate Golf Championship, part of NIRSA's National Campus Championship Series, which takes place in Las Vegas November 10-12. So far this year, over 1,200 students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members have participated in local events in an attempt to qualify for the National Championship. A full weekend is scheduled, including registration and interviews, pairings party, practice rounds, and the championship round.
The NCGC provides an opportunity for non-NCAA golfers to compete for their school on a national level. Individual schools host local events and the top teams from each local event are invited to compete against other schools in the championship. The two-person scramble format makes the event fun for all levels, and response from the majority of participating schools has been overwhelmingly positive. In this year's program, the largest events have been held by the University of Southern Mississippi, the University of Miami, the University of Southern California, and the University of Iowa. To learn more about the National Collegiate Golf Championship, or to see results from events around the country, please visit CGA. Portions of proceeds from all events benefit the NIRSA Foundation.
25 participants earn free trips to Las Vegas
Through the sponsorship of Red Bull, Advantage Fitness Products and Southwest Airlines, 25 NCGC Local Qualifiers have earned free trips and/or entry packages to the National Championship. As part of the Red Bull Final 5, ten teams of two have been awarded full entry packages and round-trip airfare on Southwest. The RBF5 winners are:
