Highlights of NIRSA Executive Committee meeting

Four members of NIRSA Board of Directors convene in Chicago

NIRSA’s Executive Committee met December 4-7 in Chicago. The NIRSA Executive Committee includes President Maureen McGonagle, President-elect Tom Kirch, Immediate Past President Greg Jordan, and Executive Director Dr. Kent J. Blumenthal. A few of the items discussed include:

• Membership recruitment - the NNC staff will be immediately proactive in developing a plan to recruit members. Plans will incorporate various committee and work team suggestions as they are developed and presented to the Board of Directors.
• Possibility of opening the floor during 2007 Annual Conference Business Meeting to discuss NIRSA governance
• Comprehensive NIRSA Member Survey to be launched in February 2007
• Honor Award: President McGonagle will appoint a work team (NIRSA Board members Greg Jordan, Mike Waldron, Amy Jo Jenkins, and Vicki Highstreet) to review a number of issues pertaining to the Honor Award Committee, including how many members serve on the committee, the importance of having open discussion and deliberation, internal controls and confidentiality
• Updating print and electronic versions of Strategic Map for 2007-2008
• Re-alignment of reporting requirements for committees/work teams
• NNC employment recruitment strategy – ensuring diversity/minority outreach
