NIRSA attends HEASC meeting in Washington, D.C.
Consortium advances sustainability in higher education
In June 2006, the NIRSA Board of Directors unanimously supported a motion for NIRSA to join the Higher Education Associations Sustainability Consortium (HEASC). HEASC is an informal network of higher education associations with a commitment to advancing sustainability within their constituencies and within the system of higher education itself. More information on HEASC and a current list of member associations can be found here.
Executive Director Kent Blumenthal and Chief Operating Officer Karen Bach attended the HEASC Sustainability Training and Project Committee Meetings January 9-11 in Washington, D.C. The meeting was attended by more than 20 representatives of member associations. Discussions included HEASC accomplishments in 2006, plans for 2007, committee assignments, and the principles of sustainability. HEASC updates will be provided to NIRSA Members through eFASTNEWS and NIRSA Know. Also, examples of sustainability concepts, applications, tactics, and techniques will be added to the NIRSA website over the next few months. (See related article.)
