Creative Excellence Awards bring out the best
2007 sees a 57% increase in the number of entries for the biggest CEA program yet
NIRSA annually presents Creative Excellence Awards to acknowledge the fine work of collegiate recreational sports marketers, graphic designers, web developers, and many others who tirelessly promote their facilities and programs.
The program grows every year. This year, a record 186 entries were received a 57% increase over last year!
CEA Committee Chair Theresa Lehman, Washington State University, said, “The quality of work entered by NIRSA institutions is impressive and inspiring. You can truly see a commitment by our colleagues to present information in new and innovative ways in order to reach more and more members of our university communities.”
New this year were categories for calendars and large-scale signage. And talented students had a choice of submitting their work in student-only categories, or putting their work up against that of professionals. To encourage student participation, the committee decided to award an Honorable Mention to the top student finisher in each category.
“I am very proud of the committee’s dedication to improving student development and student recognition in NIRSA,” said Lehman. “As the importance of marketing in campus recreation continues to grow, so does the need to attract young talent to this profession. By encouraging student participation in this competition, we can hopefully reach some new, nontraditional, future recreational sports leaders!”
Thanks to everyone who entered or judged the CEAs this year. The top finishers in each category will be displayed at the 2007 Annual Conference in Minneapolis, and institutions will receive a plaque commemorating their success.
