Agreement with ACSM will benefit NIRSA Members

NIRSA Members receive discounts on certifications and workshops

NIRSA and the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) have announced a partnership that will make ACSM certification programs more accessible to NIRSA Members.

NIRSA and ACSM will work together to provide continuing education programs, health and fitness certifications, and professional development to NIRSA Members, who will enjoy greater access to quality National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA)-accredited health and fitness certifications.

Dino Costanzo, M.A., chairs the ACSM certification committee. He looks forward to expanding ACSM’s certification base.

“We’re very excited to have a partnership with NIRSA, who leads the industry in collegiate recreation,” he said. “ACSM has been offering health and fitness certifications for more than 30 years, and this partnership will allow key practitioners in a collegiate setting more accessibility to ACSM’s quality certifications and programs.”

The NIRSA partnership furthers ACSM’s goal of bridging the gap between science and practice, specifically in the area of college recreation.

“NIRSA is proud to be aligned with such a credible certification agency,” said NIRSA Executive Director Dr. Kent J. Blumenthal. “We’re a strong proponent of professional development, and are happy to be able to offer our members additional benefits through ACSM.”

The American College of Sports Medicine is the largest sports medicine and exercise science organization in the world. Its members are dedicated to promoting and integrating scientific research, education and practical applications of sports medicine and exercise science to maintain and enhance physical performance, fitness, health and quality of life.
