Learning Reconsidered website launched
NIRSA Members contribute the highest number of case studies
Following the success of the Learning Reconsidered (LR) and LR2 publications, the Student Affairs in Higher Education Consortium (SAHEC) developed a web-based version of LR. The website complements the printed publications with user-friendly tools, forums, and resources that allow for further descriptions and applications of program examples.
Nineteen case studies were submitted by NIRSA Members, eight of which were accepted for the March 2 launch of the LR website more than any other association. NIRSA Members can continue to submit additional programs and case studies via the website.
Initial program submissions accepted from NIRSA:
- James Madison University UREC Bahamas Alternative Spring Break
- James Madison University UREC Leadership Series
- Ohio University: Outdoor Pursuits: Links to experiential learning and employee student development
- Portland State University Campus Recreation - Student Outdoor Leadership Seminar & Volunteer Trip Leader Experience
- University of North Dakota: Wellness Center
- Washington State University: Human Development 205 Communication in Human Relations
- Washington State University: Star Employee Training Program for Fitness Instructors
- Washington State University: Wilderness Leadership in Experiential Education (Education Administration 497)
An educational session titled “Learning Reconsidered - Best Practices from Each of Us” will be presented by Alex Accetta and Kathy Bayless at the NIRSA 2007 Annual Conference in Minneapolis. In this Thursday morning session, a panel of NIRSA leaders will highlight the NIRSA programs that were included on the Learning Reconsidered website.
NIRSA is also proud to co-sponsor the inaugural Learning Reconsidered Institute, taking place June 6-7, 2007 in St. Louis, Missouri.
