NIRSA Collegiate Volleyball Sport Club Championships maxed out
A record number of teams will convene in Louisville April 12-14
A total of 240 men’s and women’s teams will battle for the championship crown at this year’s NIRSA Collegiate Volleyball Sport Club Championships, part of the National Campus Championship Series. The 23rd annual event takes place in Louisville, Kentucky April 12-14 at the Kentucky Exposition Center.
The popularity of this event continues to grow, with a number of teams on a waiting list for each division. There are four men’s divisions (Division I, I-AA, II, and III) and two women’s divisions (Division I and II). Because Men’s Division III remained stagnant at 16 teams, the division was capped at 16 instead of 24, which allowed 8 more women’s teams to enter the tournament. A total of 30 courts will be set up in the Kentucky Exposition Center, with one court set up in the adjacent Broadbent Arena for the finals matches on Saturday, April 14. The three-day tournament starts each morning at 8 a.m. with play continuing throughout the late evenings.
Last year’s defending champions, University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh (Men’s Div. I), University of Missouri-Columbia (Men’s Div. I-AA), Dominican University (Men’s Div. II), Cal Poly B (Men’s Div. III), University of Texas at Austin (Women’s Div. I) and Michigan State B (Women’s Div. II) all return for this year’s event.
