Attendees of the NIRSA National Recreation Facilities Institute, presented by Mondo (October 23-25); the NIRSA National Fitness Institute (October 24-26); and the NIRSA National Aquatic Institute (October 25-27) in Portland, Oregon will all be able to attend the special keynote presentation held the evening of October 25.
Titled “The History of Fitness,” the multimedia session by Len Kravitz will allow attendees to follow the development of exercise from primitive man, who used physical activity in hunting, gathering and survival, through the Grecian civilization, Agricultural Revolution, Dark Ages, Renaissance, Industrial Revolution, Great Depression, and up to the modern fitness movement. After this fascinating presentation, attendees will leave with a proud appreciation and understanding of the roots of fitness and physical activity.
Presenter Len Kravitz, Ph.D., is the Program Coordinator of Exercise Science and Researcher at the University of New Mexico, where he recently won the Outstanding Teacher of the Year award. Len was honored with the 1999 Canadian Fitness Professional International Presenter of the Year and the 2006 Canadian Fitness Professional Specialty Presenter of the Year awards. He was also chosen as the American Council on Exercise 2006 Fitness Educator of the Year.
