National Intramural Symposium coming to Raleigh June 11-13

Register by May 12 for best pricing

The inaugural NIRSA National Intramural Symposium (NIS) is less than three months away. This first-ever event will take place June 11-13 at the Sheraton Raleigh Hotel Hilton in Raleigh, North Carolina. The Symposium Planning Committee of Andy Milton (chair), St. Ambrose University; Joe Book, University of Wyoming; David Parker, University of North Carolina Wilmington; James Wilkening, University of Central Florida; and Tara Yesenski, Arizona State University, has put together a fantastic program agenda.

Due to a large number of presentation proposals submitted, the NIS will have 20 action-packed educational sessions throughout the two-and-a-half-day event. Barry Mano, founder and president of the National Association of Sports Officials and publisher/executive editor of Referee Magazine, will be the keynote speaker. Mano will get the symposium under way by presenting “Leadership Officiating: How Leaders and Lead-Officials Make Great Calls.” His session will take the operating principles and core philosophies of great officiating and merge them into the world of organizational leadership. Mano will also serve on an Officials Panel the following day that features current and former NCAA officials Tommy Salermo, Bobby Pennington, Debbie Williamson, and NIRSA Member David Gaskins.

“The 2008 National Intramural Symposium Planning Committee is thrilled at how the conference schedule is shaping up,” said Andy Milton.”The amount of information to be learned and discussed among colleagues in the two and a half days is phenomenal, as attendees will have lots of great opportunities to obtain information on a wide variety of pertinent topics. I’d like to extend an early and big “thank you” to those NIRSA Members stepping up to contribute the presentations and coordinating what is sure to be an outstanding symposium.”

More information about the symposium, including the daily schedule, registration details, and hotel accommodations, can be found on the website.
