More than 1,500 Annual Conference attendees sign Leading Together banner

Pledge draws attention to positive role modeling

In a strong show of support for the “Leading Together” initiative spearheaded by the 2007-2008 Student Leadership Team, more than 1,500 attendees of the 2008 Annual Conference in Austin signed a pledge banner and wore blue ribbons to show their commitment to responsible decision-making and positive role modeling. The signed banner was displayed at the Honor Award Banquet at the close of the Conference.

The pledge banner read:

As an attendee of the 2008 NIRSA Annual Conference, I pledge the following:

I will uphold the highest standards of personal integrity, consistent with the NIRSA Member Code of Ethics, and encourage my peers to represent themselves and their institutions with the same dedication.
I will serve as a positive role model for students and professionals through my actions, decision-making, and Conference participation.
I will utilize NIRSA Conference opportunities to continue to grow professionally so that I may positively influence others and the future of collegiate recreational sports.

Thanks to everyone who engaged in the thoughtful discussions that this initiative intended to promote.
